A distinctive conical shaped, Old World heirloom cabbage that is sensational raw in coleslaws, or as a salad green. Sugarloaf has a sweeter flavour and softer texture than standard cabbage, and makes a delightful pairing with apples, or tangy citrus and vinaigrette flavours. Matures quickly, hardy and reliable performer. This very old favourite was getting rave reviews in gardening books way back in the 17th Century!

Sugarloaf's name comes from a bit of quirky historic trivia - until the late 19th Century, household sugar had to be purchased as a tall, pointy cone 'sugarloaf', which were so hard they needed special pliers to nip the sugar off.
